On Friday, July 28th 2006, Naveed Afzal Haq pushed his way into the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building, said “I am a Muslim-American, angry at Israel” and shot six women, including one who was pregnant. One woman died at the scene, three of the others were critically injured. The woman who died was a member of B’nai Torah in Bellevue, according to a Rabbi that I spoke to at the scene.
The pregnant woman was shot in the arm, however, she may have saved her child’s life by covering her belly with her arm when she saw Naveed point the gun at her.
You can see the security, including a camera in the upper left corner. Below is a picture of the security pad. The early reports are conflicting. Some say a women had just entered the code when Naveed pushed past her and others say that he held a gun to the head of a 13 year old girl to gain access.
Daniel, a Christian, was there with Israeli and American flags showing his support for the Jewish community.
Unfortunately, not everyone was supportive. A young woman had left her anti-Israeli message on cardboard next to the flowers. She was mad at the idea that all this media attention might cause some to feel sympathy for Israel. How sweet.
As nasty as that was, it was topped by this guy, out for a stroll with a little girl that I assume is his daughter.
As he walked by and saw Daniel with the flags, he yelled down the street “F**k Israel! Burn that flag!” while flipping us off. She looked a little scared, but if you want to train your kids up for Jihad, you have to start training them early to hate Jews, I guess. How disgusting of an example.

Gotta make sure that gets emphasized. If he was a Christian, then it’s okay, nay, mandatory, to showcase that aspect, and make it a hate crime. If he turns out not to have really converted, then it will just be a result of mental illness.
How sad that the father with the little girl is setting a horrid example for his daughter.

I had a completely different reading of this sign. There are many (myself included) who feel that the MSM is too easily manipulated by terrorists into providing “free publicity” for their agenda of “hate.” There are others who see a danger of copycat crimes (like after the 24/7 publicity Columbine received). Unless you have additional information specifically identifying the intent of the author I will assume the “perpetrators of hate” to which she refers are those of a like mind to the man who perpetrated this specific act of hate.
My policy on this site is to allow a broad range of opinions to be expressed in the comments. I believe that reprehensible comments say more about the speaker than the object of the comment. With that said, I would normally draw the line at profanity, or at the call to murder other human beings. I am letting the comment from Olaf stand because it so perfectly demonstrates the mindset that I was talking about in this post.

I was like you at first, trying to figure out where it was coming from. I actually wanted to believe that it was talking about the shooter. I didn’t want to believe that someone could be so disgusting as to essentially desecrate a memorial.
However, Daniel (the man with the flags) was there when the young woman came and left the sign and he talked to her about it. I based my comments on his description to me of what she said.
I do agree with you in general about the MSM coverage. The old adage “If it bleeds it leads” is very true. And for those who dig a little, there is a great deal of reprehensible media manipulation going on in both Gaza and now Lebanon.
I urge you to publish widely the shot of the Muslim guy giving the finger. Please pass it on to LGF and other high profile sites.
I find it chilling; and unacceptable. It puts paid to the newspaper cliche that the Muslim community is in deep introspecton mode - bullshit; this guy is back at the coffee shop bragging to his friends. And with his daughter no less! It shows that Jew-hating Muslims in Seattle feel neither shame nor constraint when it comes to flashing their anti-Semitism publicly; that is, Seattle, they find ,is hospitable to open demonstrations of Jew-hatred - they know there will be no official denouncements or censure.

The fact that the young woman left the sign with that intent undescores the Left’s quick reaction to any hint of challenging ideas or dissent, which is to silence and crush it.
Thanks for posting these pics. I am sorry for the disgusting lunatics that you and others must encounter simply paying respects to the victims and horrified at the causal incident. The bald-headed troll that committed this crime cleary acted with calculated cunning and premeditation. He is not insane. He is a hate-filled killer and deserves the die for his crimes.

Thank you so much for posting these pictures. I am a Jew who just came back to the States from Israel in January and will be going back next summer for a year to go to school. I have dealt with this hatred all my life. I had friends that went to the community school in california that had a neo-nazi come in and threaten the lives of hundreds of children. I have been through the hatred here in the states and hatred in Israel as well. The hatred wont stop. Whether it be Muslims today and someone else tomorrow, the point is that the hatred will stay. Why? who knows. But all I know is that the one place in the world that Jews can feel some safety from the media, the government, the military, and the fellow citizens is Israel. That is why Israel must be protected. Not from Muslim Extremism or for land but for the sake of the safety that is provided for Jews.
I find that picture of the man giving the finger disgusting. That being said, we have no idea what religious affiliation he has. (that is directed to the commenter Doug) We have to be careful not to jump to conclusions in situations like this. You keep the high road, completely, when you don’t make wrong assumptions. That being said, this guy’s picture should be posted everywhere, but cover up his daughter’s face, it’s not her fault her father is a racist moron.
I should clarify one thing. I am assuming that the little girl holding his hand was his daughter. However, I do not know this to be a fact, so I have updated the post to reflect this. Considering the volatile nature of his actions and speech, I did not want to follow him to ask.
I am neither an Israeli, nor am I Jewish, but I honor the people and the flag they raised in 1948, and have since so ably and honorably defended. Haq is naught but a terrorist, a vile murderer, and should be held fully responsible for his brutal crime and tried and judged and punished, with death, for death and injury he dealt. He is unworthy of any pity. He coldly and calculatingly prepared to commit murder, waited until he could legally obtain a weapon and then attacked an unarmed, unsuspecting group of women. He is despicable, a cowardly dog.

Why is it that when a Muslim commits an act of terror, such as the attack on the Jewish Federation building in Seattle, Muslim leaders deny any connection between the act and their faith? It’s just a ‘disturbing incident’ or ‘random’ event. Nope….
This is all coming to a head. Either the west nukes Mecca proving Mohammed was a false prophet or Islam nukes Jerusalem alledging that Judaism-Christianity is false. Either/ or! These Muslim devils will never stop hating and killing Jews and Christians. Never!
yeah i’m a seattleite with jewish ancestry and it is very anti semitic here. a guy i use to work with was telling me all about how the jews control the wealth of the world and when i asked him if he thought the jews were behind 9-11 he just got real nervous shrugged his shoulders and scurried off. that guy in the photo with his daughter is an embarassment to humanity

I first heard of this shooting a couple of weeks ago on the news. Tapes were played of the shooters reasons for his actions. He said that the jewish controlled US media was biased and only reported stories sympathetic to the Zionist cause and he was trying to make a public statement about this bias. The fact that this incident wasn’t country wide news 2 years ago and the fact that his own words are rarely reported on should raise an alarm.
