Dog of the Week #8

I was in the arena at a horse show when I suddenly realized that several people on the side were yelling at me to attract my attention. I looked over and they were waving me over with their arms to come and take a picture of Barb’s dog in the parking lot. She had been told to stay in the truck, and technically she was obeying, at least halfway!

Spamming for Peace

Ever wonder what lefties do when they aren’t out pushing their 9/11 conspiracy theories or having another BDS attack? Apparently they spam blogs.

I got the following spam comment this week.

Do-It-Yourself Impeachment Due this Thursday!!! (Oct 12)

The day the nation demands impeachment is almost upon us. This coming Thursday (Oct 12), sacks and sacks of mail will arrive in congress demanding impeachment via the House of Representative’s own rules. This legal document is as binding as if a State or if the House itself passed the impeachment resolution (H.R. 635).

There’s a little known and rarely used clause of the “Jefferson Manual” in the rules for the House of Representatives which sets forth the various ways in which a president can be impeached. Only the House Judiciary Committee puts together the Articles of Impeachment, but before that happens, someone has to initiate the process.

That’s where we come in. In addition to the State-by-State method, one of the ways to get impeachment going is for individual citizens like you and me to submit a memorial. ImpeachforPeace.org, part of the movement to impeach the president, has created a new memorial based on one which was successful in impeaching a federal official in the past. You can find it on their website as a PDF.

STOP WAITING FOR YOUR MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO ACT FOR YOU.

You can initiate the impeachment process yourself by downloading the memorial, filling in the relevant information in the blanks (your name, state, etc.), and sending it in.

More information on the precedent for submitting an impeachment
memorial, and the House Rules on this procedure, can also be found at
the above address.

If you have any doubts that Bush has committed crimes warranting
impeachment, read this page: http://ImpeachForPeace.org/evidence/

If you’re concerned that impeachment might not be the best strategy
at this point, read the bottom of this page: http://ImpeachForPeace.org

“I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we’re really talking about peace.”

“War is Peace.”
Big Brother in George Orwell’s 1984

Is it just me, or does this smack of desperation? Although I hated to give it any more prominence, I wanted to let sane people see what the latest attempt is to drag down our president. Reading through the site, they are making the tenuous claim that the method used for the impeachment of a judge in 1830 is a viable method for the impeachment of a sitting president today. The judge was acquitted, by the way.

I support free speech, but having the right to free speech does not mean that you have the right to infringe on the rights of others. Shame on this group for spamming blogs with their trash, and here is what I say back:

Trip Report: World Can’t Wait Oct. 5th 2006 Protest (Olympia & Seattle)

Well, the long awaited day finally arrived to Drive Out The Bush Regime. They are really building up a head of steam with these annual events. I predict that it will only take two more annual protests before Bush is driven from office in early 2009.

I went to the Olympia, Washington protest first and frankly I was disappointed by it. At 1:00 pm, three hours after it started, there was still less than a hundred people, and nearly half of that were the organizers. Here is a wide shot.

And no, I didn’t cut out any of the crowd. Of course, they did have lots of spray paint and markers.

And speaking of paint, check out this truck.

Heck with Bush and Cheney, he wants the whole government gone. Frankly I could go along with a complete flush of congress, if we could finally get rid of characters like Ted Kennedy, J. F. Kerry and Byrd. But tempting as that is to dream about, we should probably stick with our tried and proven method of orderly elections.

The Olympia protest organizers website said:

We have 1000 orange rain ponchos with IMPEACH and BUSH OUT NOW - to give away FREE to first 1000 people!

They turned out to be “free”, but only with a strongly suggested donation. Bummer.

Remember Lt. Ehren Watada?

Here is a fellow with an interesting perspective on Communist Cuba. He forgot to add “0% Dissent” and “Trains Run On Time”.

And the perennial socialist candidate Aaron Dixon had a table, naturally (the guy in the background is with another group).

Of course, there were the obligatory “Bush is Hitler” and “Bush is the Terrorist” smears. How original.

However, in the “priceless” category, nothing compares to letting your little girl play with an umbrella like this.

Yep. It says “Bush Kills Children”. Nice.

From the Olympia protest, I valiantly fought my way up to downtown Seattle using our liberal utopian transportation system. I hear that it was a larger protest, about 300-400 people, but by the time I got there at dusk it was pretty thin. But the 9/11-was-an-inside-job crowd was still there.

There was more flag abuse.

And the award for the most passionate sign goes to:

Sheesh!  I like the GEICO Gecko

Not to be outdone by Olympia, Seattle also had an impressive vehicle.

That’s all folks. Just think, I do this so you don’t have to!
