There are piglets, there is pork, and then there’s Obama’s trillion dollar Hogzilla spending bill. His supporters called it a “stimulus” bill, but no amount of lipstick on the pig will change it to be anything other than a massive spending bill, targeted at as many left-wing special interests as would fit in a thousand pages. It quickly became named the “Porkulus” bill.
In the fine tradition of dissent that we have been told for eight years is so patriotic, blogger Liberty Belle organized an anti-Porkulus protest in the heart of liberal Seattle. She’s not under any illusions that it will prevent Obama from signing the bill, but it is important that conservatives do some organizing in their community and push back against this and the other spending bills that are sure to follow. And it’s not just conservatives. Liberty Belle started off by emphasizing that this is an issue for everyone regardless of party. Last time I checked we are all stuck with the same economy regardless of political affiliation.
This man’s sign captures the essence of what we are facing.

It’s not change if it’s the same old discredited Marxist theory that history has already proven a failure.

Here’s an 89 year old man who suffered through the Great Depression, and FDR’s policies that prolonged it.

And here are some pictures of the victims of this grand experiment in spending and debt that Obama is dabbling with.

Michelle Malkin helped get the word out about the protest, and she had catered BBQ pork from a local grill. Many thanks for that, Michelle.

This guy jumped up on the stage, started yelling and gave us the Nazi salute. Unhinged.

It took a while for a policeman on a bicycle to show up to calm him down. I had realized earlier that there were almost no police around, something that I had never seen with the other protests. But then, the police know who is more likely to cause a problem, the left or the right.
Obama and the Democrats in Congress may try their spin, but people see through it. This woman gets it.

Here are a few more signs to give you an idea of the crowd’s mood.

Obama wanted this to be a nonpartisan bill. He failed, letting hyper-partisan Nancy and Harry ram it through Congress, uniting the Republicans against it in doing so. He now owns it. Presidents always get the blame. Some people say that is why we elect leaders, so that when things fail we have someone to blame for it. When this massive oinker fails to deliver, he will be the one who will have to “uh” his way through an explanation for that failure.
But sadly, we and our children will still have to pay the bill.
Look here for the full gallery of pictures from this protest.

Rush Limbaugh called it pork, so it must all be pork! Even the pork tax cuts, and the pork unemployment extensions. It’s all pork. Yessiree Cletus! We can’t afford any of this. We need a trillion plus a year for our war machine, and another 2 trillion plus to subsidize big oil, and big coal! Stay away from them sacred cows Prez!

When it was suggested that this Nuclear Pork Bomb be posted on the web for 24 hours so that the people could see what it contained, Obama’s excuse was that we didn’t have that sort of time to waste.
But then he waits three days to sign it.
This type of “saving” is not new. It has been done before. The Japanese did the very same thing in the 80’s when their over heated economy cratered. That brought them what they call “the lost decade”. The lost decade actually lasted two or more. Si that’s where we are headed folks.
So ask yourself this. If spending yourself into a 800 billion dollar hole using money that you don’t have is the way to “stimulate” an economy, why stop there. Why nor spend 6 ot 7 trillion that you don’t have and REALLY get the economy rolling.
The answer is simple. This is not about the economy this is about big government that will never go away. Big government into every orifice of your life and the taxes that will be needed to support it. Hope all you Obama voters will like that.
Nice posts, partner. And congrats to those who care!

I wonder if the youth who loved Obama so much realize that they and their children will be the ones paying for all this. The 30 year bonds will hit when they are in their late 40’s and early 50’s, or in other words the prime of their earning life. All that extra earnings will be taxed away to pay for this mess. Next we will keep home prices unreasonably high, thus preventing the youth from being able to own a house. But hey, Obama is cool, and carries a blackberry, so who cares what he does and who pays for it.

I am in favor of a balanced budget. I liked it when we had one in 2000.
I remember being so strongly against Bush/Cheney when he reversed a surplus and caused a deficit. It wasn’t good. I’m so confused. I thought Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter- at least that’s what Cheney said. I’m so confused how that all could have changed since 2004.
FAP? Seriously, FAP?
Evidently my home town is not Aware of All Internet Traditions.
#1 A trillion a year for the “war machine”? You’ve got to be kidding. You’re as loose with the truth as your adorable Obama.
Dearest Otto, I’m sure you’ll figure it out. Here’s a clue: Government has to stop spending like drunken sailors when they cut taxes. Cutting taxes gives more money back to the taxpayer so they can do the spending themselves. Our elected representatives forgot that part! Got it?
Good for the demonstrators. Hope there’s one fairly close to where I live. I’ll be out there with my sign that will enumerate a lot of the pork that’s actually in this godawful document, which none in congress has read in full having voted on it sight unseen!! Yay! Our tax dollars in action!
How did I miss this???!!!
I admit, I just discovered Sound Politics through some links on my Campaign For Liberty meetup groups.
Byron, can you e-mail me and let me know the best way to come up on these public protests?!
Should I just be checking the calendar on Sound?
Thanks!
Dee, it’s too late. Protest is over.
These protestors should stop complaining and get jobs!
@SomeDude: Totally agree! Can’t understand why so many HARD WORKING RICH WHITE PEOPLE are out of work, having a witch hunt in the middle of the afternoon at Westlake!
