Across the nation on February 27th, 2009, conservatives and disillusioned moderates came out to protest the massive government spending that has been defining the new Obama presidency. Perversely, one of the things that helped the Clintons during the 90’s was how they had so many scandals, people tended to get numb to them. Eventually, new ones failed to shock or surprise. If this first month of Obama’s reign is any indication, we are all going to be very numb indeed to massive government spending by the end.
This sign to me sums up the whole motivation behind this spending binge.

“Stop Buying Votes With Public Money”
This isn’t about the good of the country. It’s about a permanent liberal Democrat majority. The Democrats simply can’t help but overreach. What they don’t want to see is how people are not fooled by it.

People are upset about the rise of socialism and it’s propping up of failure, as well as the expansion of the welfare state.

This was a nice touch. The organizer of the Seattle protest, Liberty Belle, called Washington state senator Patty Murray’s office from the platform and let the crowd leave a message saying how they felt about her voting for these massive spending bills.

Hopefully congress will listen to the woman in this next picture when they are getting ready to pass another one of these Hogzilla bills. Hopefully the Democrats will let them have more than a few hours before they are supposed to all vote Yea on it. They need to understand that we are citizens, not piggy banks for them to raid.

I’ll end with this sobering truth.

Look here for the full gallery of pictures from this protest.
And be sure to visit Liberty Belle’s blog.

[…] Anti-stimulus protests were held around the country yesterday, including Seattle. […]

Has anyone else noticed the Mussolini pose of Obama in the photo of the sign “smug one”? I suggest we refer to the Noble Leader as Benito. He is taking us down the path to fascism.
Typically politicians lie during the campaign. We all know that. This man, with little actual experience, lied to the nth degree and now arrogantly acts as if none of us care, as if we all think he is truly our messiah. Well, I, for one don’t need him to save me in this fashion. In four years we citizens of the United States will be politically and financially bankrupt. 11 million Illegal alien children on our Health Care Bills is a plus?wtfo???
Obama has behaved like a kid in a candy shop with his so-called stimulus $ and Multi-Trillion $ budget request to make the US a socialist nation indebt. His outrageous budget has caused everyones 401K retirement investments in the stock market to tank.
Impeach Obama.
Those who voted for Obama have no grounds to complain.
Chicago politics does not come without a price tag. It never has, and it never will.
Get used to it. You got screwed - because you fell for the biggest con in America - Chicago Politics.
Dig deep, because now you are going to have to pay.
Good luck,
Lawrence Klepinger
I agree with Lawrence… Those voters did fall for the biggest con in America. I sincerely hope Blagovich has dirt on some of these guys and can get it into print before his demise.
You KNOW that those Chicago politicians are leading and Obama is returning favors now. Simply a Talking head on a teleprompter.
God help us all &
God Bless America,
Sue
I agree with Lawrence as well, but the problem is that even those of us who didn’t vote for Obama have to suffer the consequences. Isn’t there something we can to do get him out of office before he completely destroys our country?
I have been looking at some national websites and do not see Seattle listed as having an April 15th demonstration against the budget.
Nor do I see the drive to send empty tea bags to our Congress and president by April 15.
Spot on! This is what I’m talking about. We need more and more of these type of protests. What’s happening right now is absolutely absurd and downright illegal. Obama thinks that America is simply a large money printing machine, distributing everything anywhere and anyway possible.
Wow… looks like about 20 people showed up in Seattle… I do like how you included passerby’s in the photographs so it looks like you weren’t alone in your protest.
Please point to a protest that resulted in the desired effect.
I wonder what percentage of the Tea Party protesters failed to vote last November?
How many donated anything to a fiscally conservative candidate?
Ranting and raving simply will not get the job done; nor will rejecting political parties.
3rd party?
Remember Perot?
That’s how Clinton got elected.
Taking control of a political party….ah yes, that would work!
Liberty, thank you for your hard work on putting together the protest at westlake yesterday. It was my first one but it will not be my last,, Im ready to MARCH on Washington D.C. just say when… Kirk
Come on! Where were all of you conservatives when the Republicans where destroying the Constitution with an idiot President who has no regard for a democracy but loves torture, tax cuts for the wealthy and a nation with only health care for those people who are lucky enough to be rich or have a job. Funny how when the shoes is on the other foot it is always the Liberals that get the blame. Republicans not only got us into this mess they continue to vote to keep us there. Who are the fascists?
Both sides are crooks and are destroying the country. If it isn’t Bush starting pre-emptive wars on bogus intel or whether it’s Clinton selling our asses to the Chinese, “America” is bacically over. But I couldn’t care less about “future generations.” Seriously. I’ll be dead before then, so party on!
I forgot. How many of you registered republicans now tell everybody you’re really “libertarian” since the November election?
LOL.
Coward neocon punks. Watch yourself or I’ll come over there and take your lunch money you wobbly-kneed bedwetters.
What I don’t understand was where were these people when ‘W’ was spending public money like it was about to go out of fashion? It was the Rebublicans who ran up a huge deficit… and that money went into the pockets of Cheney’s cronies. Now Obama gets his nose in the trough as well… lets face it, its his turn - why the sudden bout of citizen activism?
The only way the People will get their turn is when the electoral system changes to remove the influence of well funded lobbyists, by removing the dependency that candidates have on raising billions of dollars to campaign for the Presidency.
I am disgusted by how ignorant Americans are. They (most but not all) should be walled up within their own country without any say in world affairs. Let their ignorance be their own demise.
